Whoa, hold up. Did you know that sugar might be sneaking into your diet without you even knowing it? It’s true! Sugar has a bunch of aliases and it shows up in some pretty surprising places. Let’s play a little detective and see if we can spot those hidden sugars.

Sugar’s a sly one. It goes by many different names. Here are some suspects to look out for:
- Dextrose
- Fructose
- Glucose
- Maltose
- Sucrose
- High Fructose Corn Syrup
- Fruit Juice Concentrate
They all end in “ose” because they’re a type of molecule called a saccharose. Which is just a big word for sugar. Even if you’re being careful about checking labels, sugar in its many disguises might slip under your radar.
Hidden in Plain Sight
And don’t think sugar just sticks to the sweet stuff. Oh no, it creeps into savory foods as well. Ketchup, barbeque sauce, salad dressings, even bread and pasta sauces can pack a sugary punch.
