Finding Balance Between Fitness and Motherhood
Striking a Balance: Fitness and Motherhood
We get it, moms. Finding time for fitness when you’re taking care of kids, managing the house, and perhaps also juggling work can be tough. But you don’t have to choose between being a mom and being fit. It’s possible to do both — and to do them well! Here’s how.
Finding the Time
You probably feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day. But just as you make time for diaper changes or helping with homework, schedule some time for yourself. Maybe it’s an early morning workout before the rest of the house wakes up or a mid-day yoga session during nap time. This is not about taking time away from your kids; it’s about taking care of yourself so you can best care for others.
Getting Creative
The gym is great, but the great outdoors or even your living room can be just as effective. Look for ways to integrate fitness into your everyday activities. Walk or bike to school drop-off whenever you can, or try squatting while you fold laundry. Every bit adds up, and your kids will see fitness as part of everyday life, not something separate.
Making It a Family Affair
Why not have your kids join you? Aside from setting a great example, you’ll also get to share some quality time. Go for family walks, play active games together, or even let them join in on your workout. This is a fun and rewarding way to ensure you and your family stay active.
Self-Care Is Not Selfish
Remember, taking care of your physical health is a crucial part of being a mom. The better you feel, the better you can care for your children and your family.
