Sneaky Strength Moves While You’re Folding Laundry
Sneaky Strength Moves While You’re Folding Laundry
Doing laundry, as mundane and simple as it seems, is a chore that’s absolutely necessary. It can be boring and feel like a chunk out of our precious time, but have you ever thought about using this time to improve your fitness levels? That’s right! Here are some sneaky strength maneuvers you can do while folding laundry.
Squat and Fold
Instead of bending or slouching, try squatting down when you retrieve clothes from your laundry basket. Keep your back straight, engage your abdominal muscles and push your hips back while bending your knees. When you rise, straighten your knees and hips while exhaling. Do as many repetitions as your laundry load permits.
Lunge and Reach
Add a lunge to every item you pick up off the laundry line. Step forward with one foot Landing on your heel, then your forefoot, and lower your body to a balanced position. Make sure your knee aligns with your second toe and your body weight is distributed evenly between both legs. Return to the starting position and do it again for each garment you need to retrieve.
Laundry Basket Lifts
Treat your filled laundry basket like a makeshift dumbbell. With each pick of the basket, initiate the lift by driving through your heels, keeping your chest up and your back straight. Remember, lift with your legs, not your back.
